Dear friend,
The COVID-19 pandemic is deeply challenging the way we feel, function and relate as individuals, families and organisations. We are certainly not living in ordinary times. Instead, it seems we are all taking extra ordinary action to keep ourselves and the community functioning. It feels as though we have been thrown into a global “boot camp” with minimal direction. I truly believe the way we internally process this event will have a lifelong impact on our individual and collective wellbeing. When humans are faced with an event of significant change, there are usually three long term outcomes; 1) Post-traumatic stress 2) A return to pre-event functioning 3) Post-traumatic growth Our current situation is an opportunity to step up and grow in unimaginable ways. This week I encourage you to notice how some challenges have provided you with the gift of growth. What unexpected challenges and opportunities of growth have you experienced? As we continue into the unknown together, let’s reflect on the wise words of Epictetus; “We are not disturbed by what happens to us, but by our thoughts about what happens to us.” Until next time, take care and be kind,
